Permaculture Artisans is an award-winning ecological landscape design-build firm based in Sonoma County

Hello Landscape Tour friends!

Please read the following information as some details have changed.

  • Please arrive close to 10:00am to allow ample time for parking and check-in, we will be starting promptly at 10:30 at Permaculture Artisans (2185 Hwy 116).

  • We will be splitting into 3 groups and rotating between the 3 tour sites - find your group at the link below

  • We will provide addresses on tour day

  • Please bring a water bottle, hat, and bagged lunch

We are thrilled to have such an enthusiastic response from the community for this tour!  We had more sign-ups than we initially expected (amazing!) so we are going to format the day a bit differently.

We are going to break up into 3 groups and rotate the groups between sites.  Check out the link below to see what group you are in!**

Regardless of which group you are assigned,  we will all meet at 2185 Hwy 116, (Permaculture Artisans office and farm) first thing and break into groups to start the day from there!  The other 2 landscape projects have limited parking, so we will be encouraging carpooling among groups.

**Please note that those who RSVP'd for "Part 1" only have been put into the "Green" group who will be touring the Permaculture Artisans property first thing so you will be free to leave around noon. If you feel that you need to change your group, or have any questions about the event, please respond to this email or give our office a call.

PLEASE ARRIVE BETWEEN 10:00AM -10:30AM - we will start promptly at 10:30 with a quick orientation and send everyone on their way to their first tour location.

We will need the FULL tour time to make this work - we greatly appreciate your cooperation while we coordinate parking and get everyone checked in!  See the image below for the full  schedule.  Addresses for the additional 2 properties will be provided on the tour day.

If you are joining us for the full day we recommend bringing a water bottle, hat, and bagged lunch for our break after the first tour stop.

We will have water refill stations and portable toilets at all tour sites for your convenience.

We will be checking names and/or email addresses to confirm registration at the event.

Permaculture Artisans has completed hundreds of projects in our 15 year history. While they all exemplify our commitment to sustainability, the diversity of these projects is striking—from small suburban gardens to broadacre reforestation. Here are just a few examples of our work for which we are particularly proud.

Featured Landscape Projects

Our Approach

At Permaculture Artisans, we’re committed to creating resource-rich landscapes firmly rooted in Permaculture ethics; Care of the Earth, Care of the People, and Sharing the Surplus. We specialize in regenerative agriculture, food production, water harvesting, fire resiliency, and restoration projects at all scales. From backyard landscapes to broad-acre farms and ranches, every project is infused with beauty, nourishment, and habitat.

Landscaping Ethos

  • BEE PERMACULTURE ARTISANS LANDSCAPE LANDSCAPER LANDSCAPE

    Care of the earth

By observing the patterns and processes in the landscape, we assess the needs of your property and what the land itself is asking for. We look at the plants, local wildlife, pollinators, topography, drainage, soil conditions, fire risk, and so much more to create a design that not only reflects your vision but a plan that will work in harmony with your environment.

  • ERIK OHLSEN PERMACULTURE ARTISANS LANDSCAPE LANDSCAPER LANDSCAPE

    Care of the People

At Permaculture Artisans we not only design and install landscapes that fit your needs, we take into account your neighbors and community. What could be better than sharing the fruits of your ecological landscape with those closest to you? Whether that is an abundance of produce, protecting your property from fire, or adding clean water back into our rivers- we want everyone touched by your project to share in the benefits.

  • HARVEST PERMACULTURE ARTISANS LANDSCAPE LANDSCAPER LANDSCAPE

    Share the Surplus

A resilient landscape system requires a “whole systems” approach as well as a synergy of many enterprises, all working together to build the health of the soil, plants, animals, and human communities. By imitating forest-like structures to increase biodiversity, efficiency, and ecosystem functions, we design resilient food systems that ensure food security for all earth’s inhabitants.
